A huge game in the Scottish Premiership basement battle takes place this weekend, as both ninth-placed Dundee and Saints in tenth spot lost in the league last weekend.
Dundee had won their past two Scottish Premiership visits to Tannadice, as many as in their previous 20 in the top flight beforehand (W2 D11 L7), but were demolished by Dundee United as the Tangerines took the bragging rights on derby day. This is the first of two huge home games for the Dee, the second against basement boys Livingston, where they will want to pull away from potentially being dragged into that relegation playoff place.
St Mirren became just the second Scottish Premiership side to lose to Livingston this season, as Saints succumbed to defeat against the Lions in Paisley last weekend. Last Saturday's defeat was just the second for Saints against Livi (W7 D8) in their past 17 meetings in the Scottish Premiership. Two points clear of 11th-placed Kilmarnock, Saints are desperate for a victory here to possibly drag Dundee downwards instead.
Dundee will hope to but their derby defeat behind them, to clinch successive victories over St Mirren at Dens this season and move a step closer to Scottish Premiership safety.
