Match Preview

Kilmarnock have had a stuttering start to their Scottish Premiership season, whilst it has proved plain sailing for St Mirren in 2026/27 so far apart from their mental match at the weekend.

Kilmarnock remain the only team yet to pick up a point in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, after a 4-0 humbling at home to Dundee United on Saturday was Killie's first loss at Rugby Park to the Terrors in ten years (W5 D4) since a 4-2 defeat back in May 2016. Defensive deficiencies are continuing to cost Kilmarnock and if Killie can't keep the back door shut, then poor results will follow.

St Mirren remain winless in nine Scottish Premiership matches against Motherwell (D5 L4), after a crazy six goal thriller against the Steelmen on Sunday afternoon where they fought back from two goals down to go 3-2 in front before the Well's late leveller. One of three Scottish Premiership teams yet to taste defeat this season, the Buddies head down to Ayrshire full of belief that they can make it three wins from four.

Kilmarnock won three of their four league meetings with Saints in 2025/26 but, given the two teams' start to the season, the Buddies will hope to beat Killie for the first time since March 2025.
