Both St Mirren and Celtic won in their midweek matches without conceding, away to Kilmarnock and at home to Aberdeen respectively, before the two teams meet in Paisley on Saturday night.
St Mirren trail their weekend opponents by just two points, after their mental match against Motherwell was succeeded with a sole goal success against Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, after beating Killie away from home in the league for the first time since a 3-1 victory back in May 2013. Having just dropped two points so far, this will undoubtedly be the Buddies' trickiest task of 2026/27 so far.
Celtic made it four wins from four Scottish Premiership matches so far this season, as their strong recent record against Aberdeen continued to succeed victories over Dundee, Kilmarnock and Falkirk. Having not been beaten by the Dons in the league since May 2018, the Hoops will hope to open up a five-point gap at the top of the table should they beat St Mirren on Saturday night.
Celtic left it late twice against the Buddies, both home and away, last season. Having snuck past the Saints by a sole goal in all three 2025/26 meetings, it could be a tougher test in Paisley here.
